  1. To prevent corrosion caused by heating of the flange cover, the welding current should not be too high—about 20% lower than that used for carbon steel electrodes. The arc length should not be too long, and interpass cooling should be rapid; narrow weld beads are recommended.

  2. Welding electrodes should be kept dry during use. Titanium-calcium type electrodes should be dried at 150°C for 1 hour, while low-hydrogen type electrodes should be dried at 200–250°C for 1 hour (they must not be repeatedly baked; otherwise, the flux coating is prone to cracking and peeling). To prevent the flux coating from becoming contaminated with oil or other foreign substances, which could increase the carbon content of the weld and compromise the quality of the welded joint, ensure that the electrodes remain clean and free from any contaminants.

  3. During pipe fitting welding, repeated heating causes the precipitation of carbides, which reduces corrosion resistance and mechanical properties.

  4. After welding, pipe fittings tend to harden and are prone to cracking. If welding with stainless steel electrodes of the same type is required, preheating above 300℃ and post-weld slow cooling at around 700℃ must be performed.   5. To enhance corrosion resistance and weldability, appropriate amounts of stable elements such as Ti, Nb, and Mo are added. The weldability of these flanges is slightly better than that of stainless steel flanges. When using stainless steel flange electrodes of the same type (G302, G307), preheating at temperatures above 200℃ and post-weld tempering at around 800℃ are recommended. If the welded component cannot undergo heat treatment, stainless steel flange pipe fittings electrodes should be selected instead.
